Design Ideas: This Barberry is perhaps the most beautiful and unique. It has an arching form and a different look for every season. Makes a startling single specimen. Allow to grow into its natural shape or into a hedge, which will be prickly enough to keep the most ardent intruder away. Add as singles or small clusters to shrub beds and borders as a middle-elevation accent amidst other flowering plants.

Thrives in average, well-drained soil; avoid poorly drained, wet sites. Water deeply, regularly during the first growing season to establish an extensive root system. Once established reduce frequency; tolerates heat and moderate drought. Fertilize before new growth begins in spring. No pruning necessary except to maintain desired shape.
