Flowering Season
Botanical Name: Lonicera sempervirens 'Major Wheeler'
Deciduous/ Evergreen: Deciduous
Growth Habit: Spreading
Growth Rate: Fast
Special Feature: Easy Care, Extreme Cold Hardiness, Naturalizes Well, Waterwise
Foliage Color: Green
Flower Attribute: Long Bloom Season ,   Showy Flowers
Bloom Time: Spring through Summer
Flower Color: Red
Garden Style: Cottage ,   Rustic ,   Tropical
Design Ideas: The coral-pink flowers are very showy when cascading off wood fences, twining up lattice and shrouding unsightly wire field fencing or chain link. Perfect in the woodland garden, where it can gracefully climb into trees, living or not. Particularly nice when allowed to cascade off concrete block or railroad tie retaining walls. If left to sprawl, it will behave a lot like groundcover on slopes and embankments.

Easily grown in average, well-drained soils. Best flowering occurs with full sun exposure. Water deeply, regularly in first growing season to establish root system; reduce frequency, once established. Climbs by twining; will not hurt wood. Prune annually to control size; will recover from heavy pruning within a single season.

Awesome vine
by Fran, September 17, 2016

I cannot say enough about this honeysuckle. Took a bout a year to really get established. Hummingbirds love it. Robins made a nest in it this year and provides shelter . My friends are blown away by its beauty when they come over! Does not have a fragrance but, who cares?
