Design Ideas: The privet of choice for colder climates. An excellent hedge that never needs clipping as it won't exceed four feet tall. Though too small for screening, it's perfect for foundation planting against buildings, walls and fences. With its lush green foliage, it's also perfect for formal gardens as a hedge or sheared specimen. Ideal background greenery for perennial and flowering shrub beds.

Provide average, well-drained soil. Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season to establish an extensive root system. Once established, reduce frequency; tolerates mild drought. Apply fertilizer before new growth begins in spring. Prune immediately after flowering to minimize self-seeding and to shape.
