Design Ideas: With its lower spreading habit, this hummingbird magnet fits into any garden. Use as a foundation cover-up in drought-resistant gardens or as middle-of-the-border accent plants. Line up several for a hedge or mass them like groundcover in very hot planting areas where other plants wilt. Ideal for desert landscapes.

Thrives in average, lightly acidic, well-drained soil; avoid alkaline soils. Water deeply, regularly during first growing season to establish an extensive root system; reduce frequency once established. More drought tolerant in coastal areas; less tolerant in hot, arid regions. Apply fertilizer in early spring. Prune to shape after flowering.

Healthy and Thriving When I Received Them
by Carrie, August 25, 2016

But sadly, so sadly, we quickly discovered that, although I had heard they were deer resistant, at least in this new and succulent form the deer in our area seem to think they are caviar. I need to re-order anyway as one of the two plants became very dry (house-sitter error -- I was even sadder!) and does not look like it will recover. Until they get established, I will protect with wire cages. I'm an optimistic gardener, and these both arrived in excellent condition. No way can Monrovia guarantee against the ravages of animals and user errors like underwatering. Thanks for a very convenient service, Monrovia!
