Design Ideas: This has long been the most reliable cool-season groundcover for shade. Perfect for planting under the canopies of older trees, where little else grows. A lifesaver on the north sides of walls or north-facing slopes, and between tall multistory buildings. Works very nicely in the front of shaded borders or as filler between larger shrubs. Dense enough to keep down weeds, it is a great solution for dark parts of the garden, where other herbaceous plants fear to tread.

Thrives in rich, moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soils. Prefers cool, shaded settings. Water regularly in first growing season to establish root system. Once established, prefers evenly moist soil, but tolerates light dry spells. Space 2 to 3 ft. apart as groundcover; closer for faster coverage. Control weeds with mulch until plants fill in.

Customer Reviews

Only Part of What I Received Was Pachysandra Green Sheen
by C.C., April 27, 2018

I ordered one .75 gallon container of Pachysandra Green Sheen. When it arrived I kept the contents of the container intact and placed it in a larger planter that I had prepared for the pachysandra. I placed the planter in a shady area & the Pachysandra began to slowly spread. Within a few months the new growth was only partially Green Sheen mixed with half Pachysandra with No Sheen. I had to remove all of the plant from the planter and pull all of it apart to remove the No Sheen pachysandra. I now have a planter with just Green Sheen Pachysandra but it will take a very long time for the plant to fill in.
