Design Ideas Bamboo is among the primary signature plants of Asian inspired gardens. It is also equally at home in tropical island design themes. In the landscape it can be used as a clump of vertical poles for a columnar element or planted in mass for a fast growing barrier, screen or privacy hedge between properties. The running nature of this plant requires root containment, but planted and pruned properly, the aging golden culms make a beautiful backdrop in your garden oasis. Bamboo is quite adaptable to containers provided it is given adequate water and nitrogen to sustain vigorous growth and an overall lush appearance.
Foliage Color Green
Companion Plants Japanese Maple (Acer); Azalea (Azalea); Lily of the Valley (Pieris); Peony (Paeonia); Pachysandra (Pachysandra)
CARE
Care Thrives in humus-rich, well-drained soils. Spreads by rhizomes and can become invasive; best contained in a non-perforated pot with the lip above soil level. Protect root zone with a 4 to 6-inch layer of mulch to protect in harsh winter regions. Remove older canes and new shoots at the base to thin and reduce vigor.
