Stunning long-spurred yellow flowers are held upright on compact plants. Provides cheery color to woodland gardens, where it will thrive in dappled shade under larger trees. Attractive in mixed borders and containers. Native to Texas, this sturdy perennial has excellent heat tolerance and naturalizes well. Herbaceous perennial.

Provide a well drained soil in semi-shaded location. Prefers humus rich, moist soil. Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep root system. Remove old flowers to prolong flowering. If reseeding is desired, do so after the seeds have released from the dried capsules before removing the spent flowers. Cut back to the ground at the end of the season.
