History

First hybridized by Toichi Itoh in 1948, The Itoh Peonies were a cross between woody tree peonies and herbaceous peonies. These exceptional intersectional hybrids offer the best of both parents: Enormous flowers and foliage like that of a tree peony, with a prolific blooming habit, vigorous growth and stronger stems that hold up the large blooms without staking. Featuring a lush, substantial form during the growing season, the stems die back in the fall and must be cut back just as with the herbaceous peonies.

Customer Reviews

Misaka itoh
by walter, May 1, 2017

Received my Itoh Misaka a few weeks ago .It is already about a foot tall with about a dozen
buds. Plant arrived at my nursery healthy and a decent size Itoh. It's a full size
peony ready to bloom not like other nurseries that send a small substandard plant
for about the same price. Will update when it blooms and would definitely order another
itoh peony next spring.
