Design Ideas Since this vigorous Hosta spreads out to three feet in diameter, a cluster of several will cover a surprising amount of ground. Its variegation is ideal for contrast with other foliage plants and creates illusions of sun dappling in shaded gardens. Plant in wide terra-cotta pots for the terrace, shaded patio or deck. Best under tree canopies, in northern exposures or as a filler in shaded shrub borders. A quick and reliable leafy beauty for fountains and in between rocks around water gardens.
Flower Color Purple
Foliage Color Green
Companion Plants Coral Bells (Heuchera); Ligularia (Ligularia); Fuchsia (Fuchsia); Lungwort (Pulmonaria); Bleeding Heart (Dicentra)
CARE
Care Provide slightly acidic, evenly moist, well-drained, humusy soil. Avoid harsh sun exposures. Water deeply, regularly in first growing season to establish an extensive root system; once established, reduce frequency. Remove old, faded foliage before new leaves emerge in early spring.
