OVERVIEW
Description A superb shrub for shade border or woodland garden, valued for abundant bloom. Highly textured foliage covers the mounded form. Fertile flower clusters are encircled by ray florets, blue in acidic soils and pink in more alkaline conditions. Deciduous.

HISTORY
Lore It is often disputed whether Hydrangea serrata is a variety of H. macrophylla, or vice-versa, it is agreed that it is a much hardier species with the ability to bloom on new wood, which in hand makes it highly adaptable to varied climates.
